This operation is requested by both
children and adults.
The surgical technique essentially works on
the ear cartilage that is remodeled and moved closer to the
head. The scar remains behind the ear, hidden in its natural
furrow.
The results are immediatly visible after the operation
and they become definitive after 2-3 weeks, when the ear returns
to being soft and elastic. Results are stable in time.
Anesthesia
and Hospitalization
The anesthesia is very often local but the patient can choose to
have general anesthesia. In both cases the patient can go back
home by the evening.
Convalescence
After the operation a modeling and slightly
compressive medication is applied for 2 days.
Subsequently it is
advisable that the patient, while sleeping, wears a special
surgical band for 2-3 weeks. During the week after the operation
the slight soreness and swelling will decrease.
A child can
return to school after a week; an adult can go back to his/her
professional activities after 3-4 days. The sutures behind the
ear are removed after 8-10 days.
