This treatment aims to eliminate the
superficial layers of the skin.
This dermochirurgical method
needs a notably experienced operator because of the use of
strongly irritating substances, that cause real burns producing
modifications of the skin.
The degree of improvement is
determined by to the depth to which the substance employed
arrives (this increases the complexity and the risk of the
intervention).
The superficial peeling, also called
dermatological, is used in order to improve the conditions of
acneic, seborroic, thick or dull or tired skins and treat scars.
It can also be used for the hands and neck.
The mostly used is
that containing glicolic acid at 70%. The effects are limited in
time, but, if the treatment is repeated every three-four months,
they can become progressive and cumulative in the attenuation of
the thinnest wrinkles.
The peelings of middle intensity can
improve in meaningful way the cutaneous compactness. Sedatives
are administrated and, sometimes, also local anesthesias.
In
this case frozen pads are applied soaked of specific solutions
and, sometimes, antibiotic creams or specific emollients. The
necessary time for skin renewal will be around three-four days
and ten days to be completaly restored. Among the peelings
considered middle-light there is tricloroacetic acid, a strong
acid that is diluted in water in different concentrations ( 30
or 50 percent). This acid enables to correct the small wrinkles
and the nuisance of the skin.
Pain lasts for a few minutes and
is absolutely bearable, with no anesthesia. The crust appears
after two or three days from the application and falls after
about ten days.
Deep peelings exist (also called Phenol) whose
effectiveness is equal to their dangerousness. In Italy their
use is not frequent.
